#1 Experience in Puerto Vallarta – Rent a Boat and Discover the Coastline’s Best-Kept Secrets!

Puerto Vallarta has become a popular vacation destination on the Pacific coast of Mexico. While there are many ways to experience this beautiful city, renting a boat is one of the best ways to explore the coastline and discover its hidden gems.

When chartering (renting) a boat in Puerto Vallarta, you have the opportunity to experience the area like never before. You’ll be able to discover the coastline’s best kept secrets – hidden coves, secluded beaches, and stunning landscapes that can only be accessed by boat. Whether you’re interested in snorkeling, kayaking, or simply relaxing on the deck and soaking up the sun, renting a boat allows you to explore the coastline at your own pace and in your own way.

We recommend visiting small fishing villages like Yelapa or Chemo which are only accessible by boat in fact, and stopping at any secluded beaches for a swim. The Bay of Banderas offers warm waters and normally calm conditions, making it the perfect place to explore the coastline comfortably by boat.

With a rich history of fishing, the city is renowned for its fresh and flavorful seafood, including ceviche, shrimp cocktails, grilled octopus, and more. Whether you’re a seafood lover or not, you’ll be amazed by the variety and quality of dishes available.

Moreover, when you rent a boat in Puerto Vallarta, there’s always a chance that you may catch fish during your trip. This is especially true if you opt for a fishing excursion. And if you do catch fish, many boats come equipped with a grill and all the necessary tools to prepare fresh ceviche or aguachile right on board. It’s an experience you won’t forget – the combination of fresh fish, lime juice, cilantro, and spices creates a burst of flavor that’s unparalleled.

All of these beaches can be accessed when you’re chartering a boat with us – as most of these beaches are accessed by boat only.

Here is a short list of a few secluded beaches we recommend visiting:

  • Playa Escondida: which means “hidden beach” in Spanish, is a picturesque and secluded beach located on the southern coast of Banderas Bay in Puerto Vallarta. It is a hidden gem that is only accessible by boat, which adds to the sense of adventure and exclusivity.

To reach the beach, you can take a short boat ride from the nearby fishing village of Boca de Tomatlan, the boat ride itself is a scenic and enjoyable experience, as you will pass through lush jungle foliage and crystal-clear waters.

Once you arrive at Playa Escondida, you will be greeted by a stunning crescent-shaped beach with soft, white sand and crystal-clear waters. The beach is surrounded by lush greenery and towering cliffs, which add to the sense of seclusion and privacy.

  • Playa Quimixto: This private beach is located south of Puerto Vallarta and is accessible only by boat. It is known for its pristine white sand and crystal-clear waters, as well as its charming fishing village that goes by the same name Quimixto.

There are a few small restaurants and bars on the beach where you can enjoy fresh seafood and other local specialties. Visitors can also take a hike to a nearby waterfall or explore the village to get a glimpse of the local culture. Playa Quimixto is a popular spot for swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking. The waters are calm and clear, which makes it a great place to spot colorful tropical fish and other marine life.

  • Playa Palmares: This beach is the easiest to access of all the beaches listed here. You can access it by car and by bus. The restaurant Canto Palmares is located on the side of the road, and is generally the landmark people use to find Playa Palmares. This is certainly the busiest beach on this list because of its close proximity to downtown Vallarta, but is still a great place to hangout for the day.
  • Playa La Lancha: This secluded beach is located just before you drive into Punta de Mita. If you’re a surfer, this is the place for you. With its different breaks, the swells are suitable for people learning and those more advanced. If you want to rent a surfboard, theres a surf shop Wild Mex in the parking lot across from the access point to this beach.

Conveniently located right next to the Oxxo, making it extremely easy if you want to surf and need a quick board rental. La Lancha is known for its crystal-clear waters and white sand, but not so much its shade cover. Bring an umbrella to be safe if you plan on staying there for the day.

  • Playa Mayto: is a secluded beach located approximately 2 hours south of Puerto Vallarta on Mexico’s Pacific coast. It’s an unspoiled and uncrowded beach, with pristine turquoise waters and soft, white sand. Since it’s more of a commitment to get here, the wait is well worth it. A lot less people come here so the beach is often not crowded, giving you a more serene environment to enjoy nature. If you’re up for a trip away from the city for a night or two, this is a great recommendation!
